New York State has awarded CDS Monarch grant funding of $200,000 for Warrior Salute™, a service of CDS Monarch, which helps Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) to successfully transition back into their community.
The funding was included in the New York State Budget for 2014-2015 as part of the Aid to Localities Budget Bill (S6353E-2013). New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio and New York State Senator Joe Robach were key in helping to double the funding for this grant from last year.
“It has always been my belief that there is no greater debt of honor owed to anyone than that which every American citizen owes to our veterans. This important funding will allow CDS Monarch to provide world-class healthcare and treatment services right here in the Finger Lakes region to local veterans who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Just as our veterans recognized their duty to honor and serve their Nation, we too must recognize our duty as Americans to honor the profound sacrifices they made so that we can live our lives in freedom. As State Senator, I will continue my efforts on behalf of our brave service members and their families to provide local veterans with the healthcare and support services they need and deserve.”
“New York State has recognized the value and importance of Warrior Salute and the need for such a program to support Veterans when they return home from service. We are very grateful for the support that this will provide for our service men and women who gave so much for us,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO.
CDS Monarch requested the grant money to help fund healthcare and treatment services to Veterans in the Warrior Salute program. These services include mental health counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing services, medical appointment support/transportation, and emergency services such as Urgent Care, Hospital or Pharmacy needs for Veterans not covered by traditional VA services.
