A big honor for a local CEO because of how he has helped one of his employees serve our country.

Brian Kennedy works at CDS Monarch and he is also a member of the Army National Guard. Kennedy says that serving is difficult, especially when you are trying to work a full time job at the same time.

But Kennedy says he receives an enormous amount of support from his boss Sankar Sewnauth. For that reason, Kennedy decided to nominate Sewnauth for a Patriot Award recognizing his support for citizen warriors.

Kennedy says that Sewnauth helps him by providing things like flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment and granting leaves of abscene.

"I look at our veterans and they are everywhere in this world protecting us," says Sewnauth. "They are on the front line making sure I am having a safe life in the United States. So when you walk around with that in your mind, you can help but think about what it is our veterans are going through and how can we be helpful, how can we recognize what they are doing."

Specialist Kennedy says he can't say enough about Sankar and what a great leader he has been. News10NBC would like to congratulate Sewnauth for his work.
