CDS Monarch, MCC Veterans Club, MCC Volunteers and Warrior Salute will be in partnership at Operation Clean Up Outreach (OPCO) on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9:30a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This event will be held at Warrior Salute’s Nucor House located at 265 Embury Rd., Penfield, NY.

The group’s goal is to clean up the house and get it ready for the Spring and Summer seasons. This will include lawn care, staining the deck and gazebo, clean the interior ceiling lights and windows, power washing the house and walkways, and moving furniture. MCC’s Veterans Club takes part in OPCO in order to lift the spirits of the veterans.

“These projects let our community, specifically Veterans, know that there are outlets everywhere, even if they don't know about it. It's a way to give back and support those who need it and may not know how or where to ask for it,” stated Samantha Best, secretary of the club. It is the mission of the MCC Veterans Club to be a social, support and advocacy group for MCC student veterans/active duty members, their immediate families and veterans living within the community.

“At CDS Monarch, we aim to help Veterans and their families regain their lives as happy and productive members of our community,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO. “Through Warrior Salute™ we are able to provide employment, rehabilitation and support opportunities to help Veterans transition back into civilian life.”

For those participants who live outside of the greater Rochester area, or who may be in need of housing, Warrior Salute™ can provide a temporary residence for Veterans and their families for the duration of the program. The Nucor House is CDS Monarch’s first transitional home for Veterans, diagnosed with TBI and/or PTSD, who are enrolled in Warrior Salute™. The 14-bed residence provides peer support, twenty-four hour care, and consistent clinical services.
