June 2, 2011 – Webster, NY – In honor of Memorial Day, the Penfield Rotary Club held a community event to salute veterans who are participants in CDS’ Warrior SALUTE program.

“It is important that we take time to honor those who have served our country.  We are extremely grateful to the Penfield Rotary Club for recognizing the veterans in the SALUTE program at CDS,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS President/CEO.

The dinner meeting took place on Tuesday, May 31, at 6:00 PM, at Shadow Lake Golf Club in Penfield.  During the program, Melissa Mulcahy, Executive Director of the CDS Foundation, gave a presentation about the SALUTE program, explaining how it got started, what it offers for the veterans, and why the program is so crucial.  Following this, two of the SALUTE veterans, David Kendrick and Kyle Sill, spoke about how the program benefited them.

SALUTE helps service members and their families regain their lives and dreams by providing quality employment opportunities, as well as clinical and rehabilitative services. This program is 100% funded by donations, which allows our veterans with service-connected brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to transition back to civilian life through physical and occupational therapy, vocational training and job placement assistance, resume preparation and employment counseling, independent living skills training, individual and group counseling, art and music therapy, and temporary housing.  For more information on Warrior SALUTE, please visit www.cdswarriorsalute.org
