Vocational Rehabilitation
Warrior SALUTE offers employment counseling, vocational assessments and training, community work team placement, internships, and job placement support. Clinicians will assist veterans to help achieve employment goals.

Warrior SALUTE has partnerships with several businesses in the Rochester area and within our own facility with over 600 employees, and with various others resources such as ACAP, AW2, DOL, AW2, NYSID, VESID, and many others.

Unistel, CDS Monarch's employment services division,  is an AbilityOne company, certified by the National Institute for the Severely Handicapped (NISH), and the New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) and currently employs over 275 people with disabilities throughout 80,000 square feet of industrial space in two metro Rochester area facilities.  Certified by the American Institute of Baking and the U.S. Veterinary Command for the highest standards of food safety, the Company meets all federal standards of cleanliness, safety, and force protection for manufacturing and packaging.

This program gives Veterans the opportunity to acquire pre-vocational skills while earning a paycheck.

Individual Placement:

When a Veteran is ready for independent work, he/she works with a job
developer and employment specialist to find employment in the community.

Once each person is placed in a job opportunity suitable for them, Warrior SALUTE provides  intensive support with a job coach.

Job Development:  Meet with Veterans to find out what their vocational interests are, look at past employment/vocational history, skill and ability assessment, physical and cognitive limitation assessment.

After the assessment phase, job developers help work on the development of a resume, guidance in locating employment opportunities through news articles, internet, and prospecting with employers about employment opportunities, assist with completing employment applications and interview preparation.

Job Placement:  Placement specialists help Veterans be employed in businesses that match their skill set and offer opportunities for personal and professional growth.  When a Veteran receives a job offer, several preliminary tasks will be completed such as; analyze job task to determine if special accommodations are needed, meet with the employer to review terms of employment, educate employers regarding disabilities and any training needed, and securing reliable transportation for the individual.

Job Coaching: Job Coaches assist the individuals in adjusting to their new work site by providing support in the following areas: skill-building, confidence and problem solving, understanding work duties, performance standards and directions from supervisors, proper way to report lateness or absences, adhering to the dress code, socializing with co-workers and managers and understanding a paycheck (e.g. deductions).
